: I too have hypothyroidism, am very overweight. I too have a heart problem now and diabetes, which yesterday they have just put me on two different kinds of shots for. And i also have fibromyalgia which is very painful... So I know what damage it can do. The specialist yesterday (endocrinologist) did tell me though that they key to losing is carbs. (she doesn't endorse the Atkins diet because it puts you into ketosis which she says is not good but she does agree you have to cut way back on carbs. Which I found out myself. The more carbs I eat the more I want. I am doing fairly well now if I stay under 75 carbs a day or 100, that I lose am losing at least a pound or two or sometimes even more a week. And I have also found out that is the only way to do it safely, is slowly. A pain huh? LOL Much funner to put it on wasn't it? LOL I have been going through this for so long! Never really took it seriously till my heart attack, and now my doctor telling me my chances of dying in the next five years is astonomical if I don't lose the weight.
